Event and Marketing Coordinator

Looking for a rewarding career where you play a vital role in saving lives? Look no further. Blood Bank of Hawaii is looking for a marketing and event coordinator who is seeking a challenging and fulfilling job.

The successful candidate will report to and work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing & Recruitment to develop and implement a strategic marketing plan for to meet the needs of recruitment and the organization as a whole. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement formalized programs to support recruitment goals including, but not limited to, high schools, first time donors, blood type or donation specific initiatives.
  • Strategically plan and implement promotions, activities and programs to support Donor Recruitment efforts and established goals.
  • Maintains donor recognition and rewards programs to retain and acquire donors.
  • Be visible and establish a presence in the community, creating viable partnerships to support the BBH mission.
  • Offer input to strategic media buy plans including development of print, digital and broadcast advertisements.
  • Partner with donor recruitment team to identify sales tools needed. Develop implementation timeline, establish priorities, execute and monitor effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and execute special events including donor recognition events, educational workshops, expos, etc. working within established budget.

Knowledge/Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited college majoring in journalism, marketing, public relations and/or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of marketing, public relations, budgeting and evaluation.

Experience:

  • Three to five years’ experience in public relations/communications, sales, marketing and/or market research.
  • Must have excellent presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to speak to small and large groups of people and the media
  • Highly developed skills in human relations with proven ability to relate to individuals in a positive manner and build and maintain solid working relationships.  Good interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work with and service diverse individuals and provide excellent customer service.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational and time management skills, the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under time constraints to meet project deadlines
  • Good assessment, judgment and problem-solving skills with ability to recognize areas of concern, review/analyze information, clarify information that is needed and come up with possible solutions and make sound decisions based on the information at hand.
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team to productively collaborate and meet goals/objectives.
