Information Technology Manager

Blood Bank of Hawaii is seeking a dynamic and strategic IT Manager. This position is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and executing of all IT functions, including infrastructure (systems, network).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains staffing by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Manages staff performance by communicating expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Recommends IT strategies, policies, and procedures to support organizational strategic and business objectives.
  • Working with management team, maintain departmental Standard Operating Policies and Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensure the protection of the organization’s IT assets, integrity, security and privacy. Develop, document, and test IT disaster readiness, response, and recovery; back-up procedures and contingencies.
  • Manages installation, upgrade, and operations of all enterprise IT applications, including blood enterprise computer system, recruitment, blood collections staffing, finance, and other systems.
  • Designs, installs, maintains and updates systems, including data centers, virtual server environment such as VMWare, Hyper-V, and Xen/Citrix XenServer, and communications.
  • Designs, installs, maintains and updates network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, internet connectivity. Manages Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Coordinates and manages reporting needs and data analysis for the organization.
  • Ensures that the gathering, processing, distribution and use of pertinent information required by management to make decisions occur in a timely, accurate and cost effective manner. 
  • Evaluates recommendations concerning upgrading business critical computer systems to ensure application availability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center.
  • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget and managing expenses.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, HIPAA, FDA regulations, accrediting agency standards, and legal requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge/Education

  • Proven working experience as an IT manager or supervisor with hands-on experience managing systems and networks.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware / software systems
  • Broad knowledge of IT systems design, implementation and maintenance, including requirements analysis, architecture, validation/testing, installation, evaluation and operational management
  • Knowledge of business processes
  • BS in Computer Science, information systems or similar field

Experience

  • Five (5) plus years of experience within Information Technology.
  • Three (3) years supervisory or management experience.

  • Good organizational and time management skills with ability to maintain composure and professionalism when working under time constraints.
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team to productively collaborate and meet goals/objectives.
